1)    Lead story(Dry) - 44 asylum seekers arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.

The Sri Lanka Navy arrested 44 persons who were heading to Australia in a                                                               trawler in the seas off Kalmunai this morning, Navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.

“The craft had left from Negombo and the place where the persons boarded the trawler is yet to be established. Four children and a woman were among those who were taken into custody by the Navy today. ” he said.

              The first female Attorney General of Sri Lanka Eva Wanasundera will take oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa today. 

                 Wanasudera took over as the acting Attorney General of the country from
 September 1, 2011 subsequent to former Attorney General Mohan Peiris’ retirement on August 31, 2011. The new Attorney General is scheduled to address members of the department at around 3pm today at the department’s auditorium.

5)    (Dry) - Saadi Gadhafi, a son of ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi,
 is in Niger.                                                                                                                                                                   
            
              Saadi Gadhafi, a son of ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, has arrived
in Niger, an official said, as Libyan fighters tried to stamp out the last pockets of the former leader's loyalists.
            The son was accompanied Sunday by eight ex-Libyan officials "of minor importance compared to Saadi," said Niger's Justice Minister Marou Amadou.

                         English Premier League champions Manchester United continued their excellent start to the season by blowing Bolton Wanderers away at the Reebok Stadium 5-0.
                        The star man was Wayne Rooney whose hat-trick, his second in successive games, ensured that Manchester United stay top of the league.
